The Mikomax A11 is an acoustic lounge chair with a cylindrical shape that screens you off from the space around you. The design draws on a cocoon and on the Apollo 11 space capsule, from which the chair takes its name.
What sets it apart from an ordinary armchair is the sliding front panel. You close it when you would rather not be disturbed, and open it when you are approachable. That way you decide for yourself how enclosed you are, without having to find a separate room. The panel is made from curved plywood with flame-retardant foam, and moves on a set of hinges that roll smoothly over each other.
The seat, armrests, backrest and headrest are ergonomically shaped. Inside and outside are upholstered in high-quality Italian wool in a single colour, with the cushions in a contrasting shade. The entire frame is built from plywood, and the chair stands on a chrome-finished cast aluminium base with four legs.
There are two versions. The A11 is the closed version at 870 by 940 by 1650 mm, offering the highest level of screening. The A11.Open is slightly lower and more compact at 850 by 900 by 1600 mm, and keeps more contact with the room.
Optionally you fit the chair with a built-in USB charger, so your device charges while you sit.
The A11 is made in Europe and comes with a five-year warranty.
